The challenge
After about 20 winters, the membrane was chalking, brittle at the seams and leaking at the peak. The owner had patched it twice in two seasons, and harvest was about six weeks away. A full replacement building would have meant emptying storage, demolition, permitting and a season without storage. The galvanized frame was still sound: the building needed a new cover, not a new building.
The solution
- Inspected and documented the structure, then replaced worn cables and hardware while the old cover came off.
- Installed a new engineered membrane with a fresh tensioning system.
- Protected stored contents through staged removal.
- Pre-ordered fabric cut to measured dimensions, so the building was never left open overnight.
The result
Weather-tight within 72 hours and ready for harvest, at a fraction of new-build cost. The owner received a fresh cover warranty and a maintenance program to extend the building's life.
